Mumbai: Slum Rehabilitation Authority To Use AI To Monitor Slums & Prevent New Encroachments

Mumbai: The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) has decided to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to monitor slums in Mumbai and prevent any new encroachments. The aim is to make Mumbai slum-free by keeping a close eye on the city's slum areas, said an official from SRA.

How AI Will Be Used:

The SRA will use AI technology to take photographs and videos of existing slums every six months. This will help identify any new slums that have come up in the area. If a new slum is detected, action will be taken immediately to remove it.

Implementation:

The SRA has already conducted a pilot project in Malwani, which was successful. Based on this, the SRA has decided to implement this technology across Mumbai. A dedicated special cell will be set up to monitor the entire process and take action against new slums.

Objective:

The objective of this initiative is to prevent new slums from coming up in Mumbai and to ensure that the city's slum rehabilitation projects are not hindered by new encroachments. The SRA hopes that this technology will help achieve the goal of making Mumbai a slum-free city.
