What happened to 4 elderly Indian-Americans who went missing during US road trip?

The four elderly Indian Americans, who were reported missing from Buffalo, New York, have been confirmed dead by authorities. The Indian-origin Americans were reported missing from July 29.
The Marshal County Sheriff's office has confirmed that four elderly Indians - Dr Kishore Divan, Asha Divan, Shailesh Divan, and Gita Divan - all in their 80s, died in a road crash, and their vehicle was recovered on Saturday night. In a statement, Marshal County Sheriff Mike Dougherty confirmed that the four individuals who were reported missing from Buffalo, New York, have been found deceased following a vehicle crash.
"Their vehicle was located on Saturday, August 2, at approximately 9.30pm, off a steep embankment along Big Wheeling Creek Road. First responders were on the scene for more than five hours," the sheriff said. He added further probe is underway into the incident.
Earlier on Saturday, the sheriff's office had put out statement seeking assistance to locate the elderly Indian Americans, who were reported missing since July 29. According to reports, the family had embarked on a road trip Buffalo, New York, to the Palace of Gold, a temple built in memory of ISKCON founder Srila Prabhupada on McCreary's Ridge Road in Marshall County.
Cops last spotted the family around 2:45 pm on July 29, at a Burger King joitn on Peach Street in Erie, Pennsylvania. CCTV footage from the premises showed two members entering the fast-food restaurant.
A Pennsylvania State Trooper's License Plate Reader later captured their vehicle travelling south on Interstate 79, en route to Prabhupada’s Palace of Gold. Authorities say the group never checked into their pre-booked accommodation, Hindustan Times reported.
“We know this is not the outcome anyone had hoped for. We are grateful for the public’s assistance during the search and will continue to work with partner agencies to determine what happened,” the sheriff said confirming the deaths.
