In a surprising turn of events, during a live telecast, WCL owner Harshit Tomar grabbed the eyeballs when he said he was going to propose to anchor Karishma Kotak after the match.
Tomar, who was being interviewed, was asked how he planned to celebrate the end of the tournament, to which he replied, "Probably once this is over, I'm going to propose to you."
The response stunned many, including the anchor, who was left speechless, and she responded, "Oh my god," before getting back to her role as a presenter. The moment that was telecast live went viral on social media with various responses from netizens. Some called out Tomar for making the presenter uncomfortable.
However, a while after the incident, Tomar shared an image of himself with the anchor Karishma Kotak on Instagram, captioned with a heart emoji.
Meanwhile, WCL 2025 concluded with AB de Villiers securing his third century to lead South Africa Champions for a nine-wicket win over Pakistan Champions at Edgbaston. It was the South African captain's third century of the tournament in four games and he was awarded Player of the Match as well as Player of the Tournament. De Villiers' 60-ball 120* made a mockery of Pakistan's challenging total of 195 as the Proteas chased it down with 19 balls to spare.
There was a moment of controversy when de Villiers' miscued a lofted shot to deep cover, where Asif Ali appeared to have taken an incredible diving catch. However, on multiple replays, the third umpire wasn't satisfied with the authenticity of the catch and gave de Villiers the benefit of the doubt. It angered the Pakistan players and thereafter, the Proteas captain demolished the bowlers with an innings of ruthless precision.
Social media was busy with the noise of not just the WCL final, but Tomar's response, too, managed to get enough attention.
