Lanka starts giving tourists temporary DL

Colombo: In a move to attract for motorheads, Sri Lanka on Sunday launched a programme to issue temporary driving licences to tourists at the international airport. These licenses are valid for a month. The tourists getting these licences would, however, be not eligible to drive heavy vehicles and three wheeler tuk-tuks.

Ukraine hits Russia’s oil depot near Sochi

Moscow: An overnight Ukrainian drone attack on an oil depot near Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi sparked a major fire, Russian officials said on Sunday, as the two countries traded strikes. More than 120 firefighters attempted to extinguish the blaze, sparked after debris from a downed drone struck a fuel tank.

Russia, China hold anti-submarine drills

Moscow: The Russian and Chinese navies are carrying out artillery and anti-submarine drills in the Sea of Japan as part of scheduled joint exercises. The drills are taking place two days after US President Trump said he had ordered two nuclear submarines to be positioned near Russia.
