Breaking: Prayagraj Floods Worsen as Ganga and Yamuna Overflow; Police Officer’s Unique Response Goes Viral
Severe flooding in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, has caused major disruption, with rising water levels submerging dozens of homes. The flood has rendered many streets navigable only by boats, as water inundates both residential areas and colonies. Among those affected is a police sub-inspector, Chandra Deep Nishad, whose flooded home and optimistic social media videos praising the arrival of the Ganga river have attracted widespread attention. Emergency teams, including the NDRF, are actively rescuing stranded residents and providing relief. Meanwhile, rural areas face similar difficulties, with local leaders like minister Jitin Prasad getting stuck in muddy terrain while traveling. In nearby districts like Basti and Kanpur, children and citizens are appealing for better infrastructure. In Kanpur, a man protested by lying on a flooded road to highlight the poor condition of roads that caused his daughter to fall. Additionally, schools in Bihar's Jamui district suffer from leaking roofs, forcing teachers to carry umbrellas inside classrooms during rains. Despite repeated complaints, authorities have yet to take effective action. These events underscore the urgent need for improved flood management and infrastructure development in affected regions.
