Janhit: UP Govt Faces Heat Over School Merger, SP Launches PDA Pathshalas | ABP NEWS
A major political controversy has erupted in Uttar Pradesh over education, as the Samajwadi Party (SP) launched “PDA Pathshala” to protest the Yogi government's move to merge government schools with low student counts. Though the government later rolled back the decision, SP intensified its attack by setting up temporary classrooms outside closed schools in several districts like Lucknow, Sitapur, and Bhadohi. SP leaders and workers, wearing red caps, began teaching children in makeshift classes. However, the UP government cracked down on the initiative, filing FIRs against SP leaders under various sections, including violation of the RTE Act and holding unauthorized programs near government schools. The controversy deepened after videos surfaced showing children being taught alphabets linked to SP leaders — “A for Akhilesh” and “D for Dimple” — raising accusations of political indoctrination. Akhilesh Yadav hit back, calling BJP anti-education and vowing to continue PDA Pathshalas. BJP leaders, on the other hand, accused SP of exploiting children for political gains and promoting dynasty politics. As the battle over classrooms turns into a full-blown political war, the question remains: Is education being politicized at the cost of students’ future?
