Uttar Pradesh Police have filed an FIR against a local Samajwadi Party leader in Shahranpur for allegedly teaching ‘politicised’ alphabets at a ‘PDA Pathsala’.
The police action has sparked off a political storm with SP chief Akhilesh Yadav attacking the Yogi Adityanath government.
Local SP leader Farhad Alam Gada was booked on a complaint filed by Main Singh, a resident of the Kallarpur Gurjar village. The complainant alleged that the children were taught "A for Akhilesh", "B for Babasaheb", "D for Dimple," and "M for Mulayam Singh Yadav".
The incident came to light after a video of the lesson, allegedly filmed at the residence of Farhad Gada, went viral on social media. The children shown in the video were reportedly from a private school and were seen wearing their uniforms.
The Samajwadi Party has responded sharply to the police move, with Akhilesh alleging that the anti-education face of the BJP has been exposed to the public.
"Even the British did not file an FIR for studying. The anti-education face of the BJP has now been exposed to the public. Now the BJP will be gone forever. Condemnable,” he wrote on X.
‘PDA Pathsalas’ are community schools launched by the Samajwadi Party with the aim of providing free education to underprivileged children while also instilling the party's core ideology.
The schools were named after the SP’s PDA—Pichhda (backwards), Dalit, Alpsankhyak (minority)—outreach.
Farhad Gada had previously claimed that the "PDA Pathshala" was not just for teaching ABCs but also to educate children about the "great men of Samajwadi ideology."
