Independence Day 2025: Before Independence Day, Delhi Police has taken strict measures in view of security in the capital. Delhi Police has banned the flight of all sub-conventional aerial instruments including paragliders and hot air balloons in the capital till August 16. This order has been issued by Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh.

The order states that around August 15, these aerial instruments can pose a threat to public safety, VIPs and important places in Delhi. This is the first order issued after Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh took charge.

Who all have been banned

According to this order, under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code 2023, flying of all aerial instruments like paragliders, para-motors, hang-gliders, UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles), UAS (unmanned aircraft systems), microlight aircraft, hot air balloons, small-sized piloted aircraft, quadcopters and remote-controlled aircraft has been banned. This ban has been imposed till August 16. According to the order, this ban has been imposed to prevent incidents like para-jumping or air strikes by anti-social and terrorist elements.

How long will the ban continue

The order of Delhi Police Commissioner SBK Singh states that anti-social and terrorist elements can endanger the security of the public, VIPs and important establishments by using means like paramotors, UAVs, UAS, quadcopters or para-jumping. This ban will be in force from August 2 to August 16.

Delhi is already on high alert

Copies of this order of Delhi Police will be put up in all DCP offices, tehsils, police stations, MCD, NDMC, PWD, DDA and Delhi Cantt Board offices. Security agencies are already on high alert in the capital in view of the 78th Independence Day celebrations to be held at the Red Fort.
