Should you eat a fruit after a meal? Fitness coach shares 5 benefits of this dietary practice

While many might assume that eating a fruit after your meal can cause bloating because it digests faster and mixes with other foods. People have many reasons to believe that fruit consumption after a meal might not be a good option. 

Fitness coach Luke Countinho also believed in the same notion. Till he visited Vietnam and had a slice of watermelon after a meal.

"Everything shifted in Vietnam. After every meal, a slice of watermelon would be offered. One day, I accepted. And that one slice changed so much. I didn’t crave sugar. I didn’t feel heavy. I felt complete. The meal was sensorially satisfying. No acidity. No bloating. Just lightness," Countinho mentioned in an Instagram post.

• Nutrient boost- Consuming fruits after meals adds essential nutrients like  vitamin C, A, and potassium to complement the meal

• The fiber in fruits promotes slow digestion, supports gut health, and aids satiety

• Citrus improves iron absorption when paired with lentils, leafy greens

• Fruits help in combating the sweet cravings by offering a sweet end without refined sugar or excess calories

• Most people don’t experience digestive discomfort unless they have specific conditions. This also beats the common myth that eating fruit after a meal causes fermentation or bloating.
