CM distributes property certificates, plot allotment letters to EWS beneficiaries
In a significant stride towards “Housing for All,” the Haryana Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has fulfilled the long-cherished dream of home ownership for thousands of economically weaker families. At a state-level programme held in Panchkula today, the Chief Minister distributed interim ownership certificates under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana and plot allotment letters under the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0.
Addressing a large gathering of beneficiaries, CM Saini reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensure that no poor family in the state remains homeless. He highlighted that 1,144 beneficiaries from Sector-23, Jagadhri, received urban ownership certificates, while 3,884 rural applicants from 58 villages were allotted residential plots. “A home is not just a structure; it is a source of dignity and security,” he said.
On transparency of the scheme, Saini said the identification process was merit-based, with no room for nepotism or political interference. “This is a landmark in accountable governance. Beneficiary selection was carried out digitally and fairly,” he said.
He credited the success of the scheme to the “double-engine government,” referring to the combined efforts of the Centre and the state. The CM revealed that in the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana, 15,256 families across 14 cities had already been allotted 30-sq yd plots. In addition, under PMAY-Urban 2.0, each family is getting a Rs 2.5 lakh subsidy for construction.
In rural areas, the process is ongoing to allot plots to 1.58 lakh applicants in 561 villages. Rural beneficiaries will also receive Rs 1.38 lakh under PMAY-Gramin, Rs 12,000 for toilet construction under the Swachh Bharat Mission, and 90 days of unskilled wage employment under MGNREGA. So far, 69,150 houses have been built in rural areas with Rs 579 crore, and 77,900 houses constructed in urban areas with Rs 1,650 crore in support.
Development and Panchayats Minister Krishan Lal Panwar, who also addressed the gathering, said Haryana has fast-tracked both urban and rural housing. He further announced that families with annual income up to Rs 1.80 lakh would now be eligible for 2 kW solar panels, fully subsidised through a Rs 100 crore allocation made under a new initiative by CM Saini and Energy Minister Anil Vij.
The minister also revealed plans for e-libraries, modern indoor gyms and Mahila Sanskritik Kendras in every village panchayat.
Taking sharp aim at the Congress, CM Saini said while the party ruled for 55 years, it failed to uplift the poor, only showing them dreams that were never fulfilled. The CM asserted that it is the ‘double-engine government’ that has transformed lives through real action on the ground.
On healthcare, the CM highlighted the impact of Ayushman Bharat and Chirayu Haryana, which have provided free treatment worth Rs 2,500 crore to over 22 lakh people. He also noted that house repair assistance has risen from Rs 10,000 under Congress to Rs 80,000 today.
Calling out the opposition’s “false propaganda,” Saini said, “They claim the Constitution is under threat, but it is not. What’s under threat is their own political existence.” He rejected allegations about inflated collector rates, stating that over 80% of areas saw only a 10% increase, based on standard procedures.
