Rs 353 cr transferred to 16.77 lakh farmers: Minister
Haryana Minister for Development, Panchayat, Mining and Geology Krishan Lal Panwar has stated that an amount of Rs 353 crore has been deposited in the accounts of 16.77 lakh farmers of Haryana in the 20th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana.
“An amount of Rs 14.97 crore has been transferred to the accounts of 74,891 farmers in Rohtak district,” the minister said while addressing the farmers at the 20th instalment distribution programme of the scheme here recently.
Live speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also aired from Varanasi on the occasion.
Panwar pointed out that the small and medium farmers are given an annual financial assistance of Rs 6,000 under the scheme.
“Crop-loss compensation of Rs 6,436 crore has been given to the farmers of Haryana in the past 10 and a half years. This is in addition to the insurance claims of Rs 9,026 crore given under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana," the minister said, adding that the compensation amount for crop failure due to natural disasters has also been increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 per acre.
Panwar asserted that the state government is encouraging the cultivation of fruits and vegetables as an alternative to the traditional crops.
He said the Chief Minister Horticulture Insurance Scheme has been started to protect the crops of farmers from adverse weather conditions and 46 horticultural crops have been included under this scheme.
Rohtak Mayor Ram Avtar Valmiki and other government functionaries also addressed the farmers.
