Dengue awareness programme for school children organised
In a bid to spread awareness about dengue prevention, the Health Department organised a function at Karmapura Senior Secondary School located at Ranjit Avenue. The event saw participation from school children, Asha workers, and nursing students.
During the event, Health Department teams conducted a search for dengue larvae in the school and surrounding areas. The search yielded positive results, with larvae found at about four places. The larvae were then showcased to students, Asha workers, and nursing students to educate them about the risks of dengue.
Addressing the gathering, the health official emphasized the importance of preventing mosquito breeding to avoid dengue. “It is natural for water to accumulate during the rainy season, but it’s our collective responsibility to ensure that mosquitoes don’t breed in such areas,” said Civil Surgeon Dr Kirandeep Kaur. She said by cooperating with the health department and taking preventive measures, people can significantly reduce the risk of dengue.
The official also highlighted the importance of using sprays, fogging, and mosquito repellent creams as additional measures to protect against dengue. The event aimed to empower students, Asha workers, and nursing students with the knowledge to take proactive steps against dengue.
