‘Satan 2’ Missile: Russia’s RS-28 Sarmat can hit target anywhere in the world, capable of causing massive destruction in seconds, US, China worried due to…
A recent war of words between US President Donald Trump and former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has once again raised military tensions between the United States and Russia. In response, Russia has shown off one of its most powerful and feared weapons i.e. the RS-28 Sarmat, a long-range nuclear missile. NATO has nicknamed it ‘Satan 2’ because of its massive destructive power.
As the US moves two nuclear submarines closer to Russian waters, Russia is hitting back by highlighting this missile, which it claims can get past any Western missile defence system.
Russian President Vladimir Putin considers the RS-28 an important part of the country’s nuclear defense strategy. According to Russian officials, this missile can go farther and hit harder than any missile the US or China currently has. They also say it can make existing Western defence systems useless, raising fears that a new global arms race might be starting.
