Bihar airport: Spirit Air has announced to start air services from small cities of Bihar, which will connect Birpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, Valmikinagar and Bihta to major cities.

Patna: Air travel is going to be easier for the people of Bihar. Spirit Air has announced to start air services from many small cities of the state with the cooperation of the Government of India’s ‘Udaan’ scheme and the Government of Bihar. According to the company, flight services will start by March 2026. At present, work is going on at a fast pace at the airport.

The aim of the ‘Udaan’ scheme is that common citizens can also travel by air and remote areas can be connected to big cities of the country. Under this initiative, Spirit Air is now going to start its flight service in many areas of Bihar.

Flights will start from these cities in the first phase

In the first phase, air services will be started from eight cities of Bihar, including Birpur, Saharsa, Munger, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, Valmikinagar and Bihta. These cities will be connected to major metros of the country like Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. Apart from this, direct flight service will also be started from Bihta to Patna, Jamshedpur and Bokaro.

International flights in the third phase

In the third phase, Spirit Air will also start international connectivity. Under this, direct air services will be started from Bihar to many cities of Nepal. This will include flights from Muzaffarpur to Kathmandu and Janakpur, Birpur to Rajbiraj and Viratnagar, Valmikinagar to Kathmandu and Bhairahawa, and Bihta to Kathmandu.

Two special flights will fly

Spirit Air is an air service company, whose head office is in Bengaluru. This company is run by an experienced team of retired Air India officials, who have more than 30 years of aviation experience. Spirit Air will have two special types of aircraft for the air services to be started in Bihar under the Udan Yojana (RCS):

Islander BN2T-48: This aircraft can take off even from short runways. It can be used to carry passengers, carry cargo and for medical emergencies.

King Air 250: This is a high performance aircraft that flies fast. It has a pressurized cabin and can be used for many types of flights.

Benefit to rural areas

Spirit Air says that this scheme is not just a travel facility, but it will give economic strength to the rural areas of Bihar, local products will get new markets and people will also get new employment opportunities.
