Swadeshi push: Ludhiana fair to promote locally-made goods

The Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), Ludhiana, has appealed to the public to boycott foreign-made goods and instead support locally-produced, indigenous products.

Addressing mediapersons on Tuesday, Sunny Malik, Coordinator of the Swadeshi Trade Fair for the state, said a fair showcasing Swadeshi products would be organsied in Ludhiana on November 11. He said only stalls featuring domestically manufactured items would be allowed and preparations for the event are already underway.

Malik said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently promoted the ‘Make in India’ initiative to encourage the consumption of home-grown products. “When we buy foreign goods, our money leaves the country. It is crucial to purchase Indian-made items to build a stronger economy,” he said, adding that the ongoing ‘Swadeshi Suraksha Abhiyan’ aims to increase public awareness about the economic benefits of using indigenous goods.

He described the current global economic situation as a “trade war” involving countries such as China, the United States and those in Europe. Malik warned that India is facing a significant economic challenge amid this conflict, and the best way forward is for Indian consumers to embrace Swadeshi alternatives.

With festivals such as Dussehra and Diwali approaching, Malik urged citizens to opt for Made-in-India products to help strengthen the national economy and contribute to winning the ongoing global trade battle.
