CHAMPHAI, Mizoram, Aug 5: Amit Sharma, secretary to the Government of Mizoram for Cooperation & ICT Departments, today described Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) as the key “Success Mantra” for making Bharat a developed nation in the near future.
Sharma made these remarks while addressing the inaugural session of a significant NCDC (National Cooperative Development Corporation) awareness camp organized in Champhai district.
The session was chaired by Mizoram Cooperation Minister, P C Vanlalruata. Highlighting the pivotal role of PACS in shaping India’s cooperative-driven growth model, Sharma urged progressive farmers in the region to register under MPACS to fully benefit from various NCDC schemes.
These include Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Joint Ventures and Marketing Societies, which aim to enhance profitability and sustainability in the agriculture and allied sectors.
Citing a recent example of Government responsiveness, Sharma mentioned the approval of a long-pending project for a broom factory under NCDC funding. The project was cleared under his chairpersonship, with guidance provided to the concerned MPACS in Mizoram.
In his presidential address, Minister P C Vanlalruata encouraged farmers and cooperators to actively pursue loan facilities under NCDC schemes, particularly in agriculture and fisheries.
He also directed the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Mizoram and District Cooperative Officer (DCO) Champhai to take a proactive role in assisting stakeholders.
Other dignitaries present at the event included John L T Sanga, RCS, Mizoram and Pu Robert, regional director, NCDC, Guwahati.
