GATE 2026: Registration Window Opens On August 25; Website Launched

GATE 2026: The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, or GATE 2026, will be held in February 2026. The official test website, gate2026.iitg.ac.in, has been launched. The aptitude test for next year will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati.

The application procedure for GATE 2026 will commence on August 25, and candidates can apply without a late fee until September 25.

GATE 2026: Eligibility criteria

The eligibility is as follows:

1. Those who are currently in their third or higher year of a degree program in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities from a recognised institute are eligible to take the GATE 2026 examination.

2. Aspirants with certification must guarantee that the examinations are accepted by the Ministry of Education/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equal to BE/BTech/BArch/BPlanning, etc.

3. Applicants who have completed or are studying these qualifying degree programmes in a foreign nation are also eligible to apply.

GATE 2026: Important dates

1. Registration date: August 25th, Monday

2. End of registration: September 25th, Thursday

3. Extended registration (with late fee) closing date: Monday, October 6

4. Exam dates: February 7, 8, 14, 15, 2026.

5. Results date: March 19, 2026

Once the registration window is open, candidates should follow the steps below:

Step 2: Next, enter all the necessary details and then save them.

Step 3: After this, fill out the application form, upload the required documents, and make the payment.

Step 4: Now, submit the form after carefully reviewing all the details.

Step 5: Download the form and take a printout of it for further reference.

GATE 2026: Application fees

1. The usual application cost is ₹1,000 per paper, whereas Female/SC/ST/PwD applicants pay ₹1,500.

2. The GATE 2026 application fee is ₹2,000 for regular test papers and ₹2,500 for the extended period.
