New School Fee Bill: Government presented new school fee bill in the assembly, now the increasing fees will be stopped
Delhi School Fee Bill: Delhi Government’s Education Minister Ashish Sood has introduced the ‘Delhi School Fee Bill’ in the Assembly. It has been named ‘Delhi School Education Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees 2025’.
New School Fee Bill: As soon as the new session starts, the parents of children studying in private schools start working on the budget. In most schools, the fees are increased every year or they start cutting the pockets of the parents in the name of other expenses. Parents troubled by the increasing fees of private schools sometimes go to court and sometimes appeal to the government. On Monday, the ‘School Education Fee Determination Bill 2025’ was presented in the Assembly by the Rekha Gupta government of Delhi.
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood put forward many things related to this bill. He also raised questions on the current education system. The Delhi government has claimed that after this bill becomes a law, private schools will not be able to increase fees arbitrarily. The Delhi government says that the new School Fee Act is in favor of parents and children. But despite this, the Parents Association is not satisfied with it. Today, the Parents Association protested outside the Assembly against this bill.
Why did the parents protest?
There was a protest by parents at Chandgi Ram Akhara near the Vidhan Sabha against the Delhi Education Bill. The parents protested under the banner of United Parents Voice. The parents say that this bill is not in the interest of the parents, but is for the benefit of the schools. This bill should be stopped and implemented after consulting the parents. At the same time, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood says that this bill will control the fees of private schools in a transparent manner.
The tradition of increasing fees every year will end
While presenting the School Education Fee Determination Bill 2025 in the Assembly, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood had said- ‘Education is not a thing to be sold. Every year, a tradition has been created by private schools to burden parents by increasing fees, this day is to end it. The decision to bring this bill has been taken to stop the commercialization of education. India is a welfare state. We are bringing a bill against the mafia selling education.’
There will be no forced recovery in the name of fees
Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood further said that once the new bill becomes a law, schools will have the right to charge the fees that they give in writing by March 31. This bill will be for all private schools, even if they are from minority states. He said that a fine of 50 thousand will also be imposed for de-registering a student or harassing him. At the same time, the recognition of the school can be canceled for repeatedly increasing the fees or harassing the child in the name of fees.
The Parents’ Association is angry due to these 5 reasons
On one hand, the Delhi government is claiming that this bill is in support of parents and children, on the other hand, the Parents’ Association seems to be angry with it. The Parents’ Association has announced a protest against the School Education Fee Determination Bill 2025. Parents gathered outside the Assembly at 12 noon on Tuesday and protested against it. Advocate Shikha Bagga, on behalf of the association, has issued a statement saying that this bill is an anti-parent bill. It will suppress the voice of the parents.
The bill provides for 15 percent support for complaints, which is not practical. Advocate Shikha Bagga said that the new bill has been made in connivance with the private school mafia.
The bill gives schools the power to collect money in the name of new categories. The bill legalizes the earlier illegal, unapproved fees.
This bill will affect the mandatory audit of school accounts.
This bill closes the way to go to civil court for fee disputes.
This will weaken the DSEAR rules instead of strengthening them.
