Shares of BSE Ltd, formerly the Bombay Stock Exchange, were trading in the green on Thursday morning session, moving up more than 1.3 per cent to hit an intraday high of ₹2,419 a piece. Why? The bourse is expected to post its first-quarter results for the fiscal year 2026 later in the day.
By noon, more than 25 lakh shares of BSE worth over Rs 600 crores changed hands in the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Ahead of its earnings announcement, BSE had a market cap of a little over Rs 96,967 crore, with a P/E ratio of 82.27, as per exchange information. As of date, the BSE share price has doubled—i.e., jumped more than 200 per cent—from a year ago.
BSE Ltd has a lot of things going well for it. For one, it is listed on the NSE. Secondly, it has managed to be almost debt-free. Moreover, over the past five years, it posted a decent profit growth at above 65 per cent CAGR. And it has been maintaining a healthy dividend payout.
BSE earned Rs 4,840 million in operations revenue for the fourth and last quarter of fiscal 2025, bringing the annual turnover to Rs 29,573 million. In the same fiscal year 2025, BSE posted a net attributable profit of Rs 13,259 million.
The one blemish on the otherwise dreamy Dalal Street stock is that it has been trading more than twenty times its book value. But then again, overvaluation seems to be the in-thing in Indian equity markets of late.
Earlier this week, BSE appointed Fal Ghancha as Joint Chief Information Security Officer, Key Management Personnel and Senior Management, with effect from October 1 2025. This followed the announcement that Subhash Kelkar was stepping down as the bourse holding firm’s Chief Information Officer on November 4 2025.
Following the publishing of its quarterly results, BSE has scheduled an earnings call at 7 pm on Thursday.
