Ajnala: 2 women among 3 booked for abetment to suicide

The Ajnala police have booked three persons including two women on charges of abetment to suicide after a man ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance.

The case was registered following a complaint lodged by the victim’s wife, Veena, a resident of Chamiari village. The deceased was identified as Ajay Masih.

Those booked include Mariam, her mother Ninder Kaur and brother Prince, all residents of Kamalpur village. No arrest has been made so far while the body of the deceased was handed over to the family after autopsy.

Veena alleged that the accused were blackmailing and threatening her husband of lodging an FIR on rape charge against him. She said that she was married to Ajay Masih 12 years ago and they had two children.

She alleged Ajay Masih had developed illicit relations with Mariam and has been living with them for the past three years. She said he used to give his earnings to Mariam and her family. She alleged that for the past few days, he had returned to them and left the accused. She said the accused and her family started threatening him of lodging an FIR against him for raping her.

She said perturbed over this, Ajay ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance.
