MP Dharamvira Gandhi meets Railways Minister; discusses proposal to divert Jan Shatabdi or Vande Bharat via Patiala
In a bid to boost railway connectivity of Punjab districts with the national capital, Patiala MP Dr Dharamvira Gandhi today met Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to press for the augmentation of railway connectivity to the Malwa region.
During the meeting, Dr Gandhi requested the diversion of certain long-distance trains currently operating via Rajpura–Khanna–Ludhiana to the Rajpura–Dhuri–Ludhiana route, which would greatly benefit commuters from the Malwa belt.
“The proposal for the introduction of Jan Shatabdi or Vande Bharat train service from New Delhi to Bathinda via Patiala was also discussed in detail,” said Gandhi.
Gandhi said that the minister had assured that the matters would be taken up with the railway officials concerned and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the Malwa region received its due share in terms of enhanced rail facilities and connectivity.
