Andhra Pradesh can expect further rains on Sunday afternoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast warned. There is a real possibility of thunderstorms late in the evening after showers are expected to intensify after 3 p.m. The rains are going to intensify as the second week of the month progresses, the official weather prediction showed.

 

Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are more likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning on Sunday evening. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in these regions, the weather department said. The rainfall in the region is being influenced by an upper-air cyclonic circulation over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and a north-south trough running from south coastal Andhra Pradesh to north Sri Lanka.

 

Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Guntur are all likely to witness thunderstorms on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department's release said. Here is the weather forecast for some of the regions in the southern state that is witnessing some heavy downpours.
