Tariff hike: Stop using US products, traders urge Chandigarh residents

Traders have urged citizens not to use or consume American products so as to protest against the imposition of 50% tariff on Indian goods by US President Donald Trump.

In a statement, Kamaljit Singh Panchhi, president, Chandigarh Traders Association, Sector 17, stated, “It is our duty to stand with our nation. This is the time to respond with wisdom and unity.”

As a mark of protest, he urged citizens to refrain from consuming food and drinks of American brands such as Coca-Cola, Fanta, Pepsi, McDonald’s, Domino’s Pizza, Burger King, Subway, KFC and Pizza Hut.

Panchhi appealed to every Indian to take a pledge to guide their family members and friends, especially children, to avoid products from these American brands. He also urged all trader associations and resident welfare associations of the city to come forward and encourage their members to join this movement.
