MLA, Mayor lay stone of ₹39L development works

Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora and Mayor Suman Bahamani laid the foundation stone for development works to be carried out in ward-22 and ward-5 at a cost of Rs 39.46 lakh.

Several streets and drains will be constructed in Gymkhana Club colony and Govindpura village of ward-22.

At the same time, development works related to construction of roads and laying of underground pipelines for drainage of water will be undertaken in Kalyan Nagar colony of ward-5.

The MLA directed officials of the Municipal Corporation (MCYJ) to complete the development works within the stipulated time period and pay special attention to quality.

Mayor Suman Bahamani said that at Gymkhana Club colony in ward-22, the streets of Shani Mandir area, Shri Ram Seva Sadan area and Ambedkar Bhawan area would be reconstructed and pipelines would be laid at a cost of Rs 19.75 lakh.

She said that in Govindpura village of ward-22, a paved lane would be reconstructed from Gaba Hospital to Hari Jewelers at a cost of Rs 10.24 lakh.

She said that in Kalyan Nagar colony of ward-5, foundation stone was laid for the construction of a paved road and laying of pipelines.

During the foundation stone-laying programme, residents of the ward welcomed the MLA and the Mayor and thanked them for resolving their long-standing road problem.

Local residents said that people had to face a lot of trouble commuting due to broken roads during the rainy season.

MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora said that the development works were being done on priority basis in every ward of the twin cities. “Construction of new roads and lanes will facilitate movement of people. The aim of the government is to provide basic facilities to the public,” he said.

The Mayor said that public support was the biggest strength of development. “Public participation is necessary to implement the government’s schemes on the ground,” she said.

She appealed to the people to cooperate in improving the cleanliness of the twin cities.

Chief Sanitary Inspector Harjeet Singh, municipal councillors Ruchi Sharma, Bhanu Pratap, BJP mandal president Shubham Rana, Sandeep Dhiman, Ankit Kapil, Dinesh Jain and others were present on the occasion.
