Pak lost Rs126.8 cr since shutting airspace to India

Pakistan’s decision to shut its airspace to Indian aircraft earlier this year has cost it billions of rupees in lost overflight revenue, according to figures presented in the country’s National Assembly, echoing the heavy losses it had suffered during a similar move in 2019.

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif admitted that the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) lost an estimated PKR 4.1 billion between April 24 and June 30, 2025.

“Pakistan did face some economic setbacks but such measures were a necessary sacrifice,” Asif told the national assembly.
