Central Bank of India celebrates 144th Founder’s Day

JAMMU, Aug 9: Central Bank of India today celebrated the 144th birth anniversary of its founder, Sir Sorabji Pochkhanawala, the pioneer behind India’s first Swadeshi Bank established in 1911.
A visionary and patriot, Sir Pochkhanawala laid the foundation for a truly Indian-owned banking institution that continues to drive financial empowerment and inclusion.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Kumar, Zonal Head, Chandigarh Zone said, “Sir Pochkhanawala’s vision continues to guide us. On this Founder’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to serve every Indian with trust, innovation and inclusivity.”
The Bank’s legacy includes several firsts in Indian banking history including, 1921: launched the Home Saving Safe Scheme, 1924: Opened India’s first Ladies’ Department, 1980: issued India’s first Credit Card.
Today, the Bank remains at the forefront of digital and inclusive banking, with women-centric schemes like Cent Queen and Cent Griha Laxmi continuing its tradition of empowerment.
Presently Central Bank of India is operating with 4541 Branches, 4085 ATMs & 11899 B C Points.
