New Delhi: In a major development that promises to cut the travel time between Pune and Bengaluru, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has recently announced that the government has started the construction work on a new Mumbai-Pune highway. The highway will also be extended towards Bengaluru, cutting the travel time between Pune and Karnataka’s capital to just five hours. Gadkari said that the government plans to spend Rs 50,000 crore on road and highway projects in Pune district.
The minister further explained that the highway work has already begun, so there was no need for a formal foundation stone ceremony. While talking about the project, Gadkari also said that the country has enough money and technology for these projects but needs more dedication from people involved in the work.

- The highway will connect to the Pune Ring Road.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Ministers Ajit Pawar and Eknath Shinde praised Gadkari’s work, saying India’s infrastructure has become world-class under his leadership.
