Dhanuka Agritech and Girjapur Sewa Samiti lead charge for agricultural transformation in Mirzapur

New Delhi: In a significant initiative aimed at empowering farmers with knowledge, technology, and modern agricultural practices, Girjapur Sewa Samiti, in collaboration with Dhanuka Agritech Ltd., organised a Block-Level Farmers’ Workshop at Shiv Marriage Lawn, Halliya.
Held under the theme “Transforming India through Agriculture,” the event brought together hundreds of farmers, cooperative leaders, scientists, and officials from the agricultural department.
The programme was attended by Arun Singh, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and National General Secretary of the BJP, who graced the occasion as Chief Guest, and Dr. R.G. Agarwal, Chairman Emeritus of Dhanuka Agritech Ltd., who was the Guest of Honor. Other dignitaries included Shri Vikram Singh, Deputy Director Agriculture, Mirzapur, along with chairmen of cooperative banks, progressive farmers from multiple villages, and agricultural experts.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Arun Singh praised the farmers of Uttar Pradesh for their resilience and vital role in ensuring the nation’s food security. He urged the youth to return to agriculture with pride, stating that working on one’s own land holds greater respect than taking up small jobs in cities. He reassured the audience that the government would protect farmers’ interests and refrain from signing any international trade agreement that could harm Indian agriculture. He stressed the importance of embracing technology, encouraging innovation, and fostering collective efforts among farmers to achieve self-reliance.
Dr. R.G. Agarwal highlighted farming as the country’s primary identity and something to be carried forward with pride. Recalling Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” later expanded to “Jai Vigyan,” he pointed out that under the current Prime Minister’s leadership, agriculture has gained renewed focus on research, technology, and innovation. He urged farmers to follow three guiding principles – “Khet Bachao, Ped Lagao, Prithvi Bachao” (Save Fields, Plant Trees, Protect the Earth) – to ensure soil health, environmental balance, and long-term productivity. He also advocated the use of green manure and gobar khad to restore organic matter in the soil and called for informed herbicide usage, cautioning that weeds can sometimes hide pest infestations.
Dr. Agarwal warned against the growing problem of counterfeit agricultural inputs and advised farmers to use QR-code scanning to verify product authenticity. He shared technical pest management tips for crops like paddy and maize, recommending proper dosages of solutions such as Kelaya and Mycorrhiza-based biofertilizers, along with integrated spraying methods using 100–150 litres per acre. He stressed the importance of regular soil testing and strict adherence to recommendations to achieve higher yields. Highlighting the immense potential of Uttar Pradesh’s fertile lands, enriched by rivers like the Ganga and Yamuna, he pointed out that while the state’s record yield in sugarcane stands at 284 tonnes per hectare, the average is just 84 tonnes – a gap that must be closed. He noted that under Dhanuka’s MoU with ICAR, the company is working to bridge such yield gaps and directly transfer advanced technologies to farmers.
The workshop also featured discussions on soil health and cow-based farming, with farmer leader Ram Singh from Madwa explaining how the use of green manure, gobar khad, and balanced nutrients can reduce costs. Government officials briefed attendees on schemes like PM-Kisan, Aadhaar–land linking, and the importance of certified seeds. Dhanuka’s experts conducted live demonstrations of pest and weed control techniques, integrated pest management methods, and spraying practices.
The event concluded with the recognition of progressive farmers and distributors from villages including Kotar, Naugawa, Neveda, Barua, and Bhardwa, as well as the felicitation of scientific experts such as Prof. K.R. Patel.
