5 records set by South Africa's Dewald Brevis during his 41-ball century against Australia

It was carnage at the Marara Cricket Ground in Darwin on Tuesday (August 12) as Dewald Brevis went berserk against Australia with a typically audacious innings. The youngster brought up his first-ever T20I century off just 41 balls as all the Aussie bowlers were taken to the cleaners.

Brevis came into bat in the fifth over, surprisingly promoted to no.4, after South Africa got a frenetic start of 44/2 with Aiden Markram (18) and Ryan Rickelton (14) perishing after some lusty blows. Lhuan-dre Pretorius was scratchy and when he perished, the score read 57/3 in the seventh over. Brevis, though, found his mojo straightaway as he struck a boundary off just the second delivery that he faced and off his seventh delivery, found his maximum. Brevis's penchant for destroying spinners was on view again as he took apart Glenn Maxwell for a 24-run over that included three sixes and a four. The usually dependable Hazlewood also copped a lot of stick as he conceded an 18-run over.

Such was the level of Brevis's domination that his 126-run stand with Tristan Stubbs saw the latter contribute just 31. Even after the partnership was broken, there was no stopping 'Baby ABD' as Brevis kept peppering the fence at will. Only Ben Dwarshuis (4-0-24-2) was economical although he also conceded a 15-run over towards the back end. Brevis through his majestic innings set five new records.
