Hisar tourist found dead in McLeodganj hotel

A tourist from Haryana allegedly died under mysterious circumstances in the tourist city of McLeodganj in Kangra district, the police officials confirmed here today. He was found unconscious in his hotel room, lying face down on the bed. The deceased has been identified as Gaurav Gautam (38), a resident of Hisar, Haryana.

The local police took the body into custody and sent it to the Zonal Hospital at Dharamsala for a post-mortem examination, after which, the body was handed over to the family members for cremation. The family members were called by the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Gaurav had come to McLeodganj as a tourist and was staying here since July 30. It has come to light that the family members of the person were calling him on his mobile phone to return home, but the Gaurav told them that he was not feeling well and, therefore, it will take a few days for him to return back to home.

The hotel staff found him dead in his room. The hotel management informed to the local police about the incident. When the policemen reached the spot they found stains of blood oozing from his nose. Stains of some liquid were also there on the spot and liquor bottle was also found in the room.

Police believes that he could have died of excessive drinking but the exact cause could be ascertained only after chemical examination of the viscera samples collected from his body.

When the police took him to the zonal hospital at Dharamsala, the doctors declared him brought dead.

Further, investigations were in progress.
