Vacant posts in power board will be filled: CM

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today assured a delegation of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) that the government would consider its legitimate demands sympathetically. He said, “Vacant posts in the organisation will be filled to streamline its operations.”

The employee union and the board management are at loggerheads as the latter had chargesheeted and transferred two office-bearers of the union. The JAC delegation urged Sukhu for the withdrawal of the chargesheet and the return of the office-bearers.

“The Chief Minister wasn’t happy over the chargesheeting issue and asked the management to withdraw the chargesheet,” said HL Verma, JAC co-convener. “The Chief Minister said the management’s order to ban peaceful meetings and protests on the HPSEBL premises was not right,” he added.

The other major demand put forward by the delegation was to stop “unscientific rationalisation of posts and restructuring of offices” as these would lead to adverse outcomes. The delegation urged Sukhu that 51 posts of engineering and others abolished recently be restored. It also urged him to grant the Old Pension Scheme to HPSEBL employees and frame a policy to bring outsourced employees on the rolls of the board.
