Himachal Dy CM Agnihotri promises better basic amenities in remote areas
Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for two major development projects worth Rs 21.12 crore in the Dalhousie Assembly constituency of Chamba district.
During his one-day visit to the district, Agnihotri laid the foundation stone for the Rs 6.46 crore BaniKhet Nallah flood control project in the tourist town of Banikhet. He later inaugurated a newly constructed lift water supply scheme worth Rs 15.66 crore at the revered Bhalei Mata Temple complex.
Addressing the public, Agnihotri said the state government is committed to ensuring the reach and expansion of basic facilities to the remotest areas of the state. He added that works related to drinking water, irrigation, sewage and flood control are being completed within stipulated timelines.
The new water supply scheme, designed for drought-affected panchayats, including Brangal, Bhalei, Vangal, Ohra, Simni and Kanged, will provide 13 lakh litres of clean drinking water daily to around 133 rural habitations across 30 villages.
On the Banikhet Nallah flood control works, he said around 815 metres of ICC channel will be constructed along with stone filling, slip removal and other structural works, protecting property worth approximately Rs 13 crore in Banikhet and Dhalog areas.
Fulfilling local demands, Agnihotri announced Rs 10 lakh for the construction of a ‘sarai’ building at Bhuru Nag Temple. He also assured that the feasibility of constructing a lift or ropeway at the Bhadrakali Bhalei Mata Temple for the convenience of senior citizens and pilgrims would be explored.
Earlier, he offered prayers at Bhuru Nag Temple in Banikhet and Bhadrakali Bhalei Mata Temple, seeking prosperity for the people of the state.
Later addressing a press conference at Banikhet, the Deputy CM said the proposal to set up a Jal Shakti Department divisional office in Dalhousie is under consideration. He added that most of the work on the Dalhousie water supply scheme has been completed and it will be inaugurated by December this year.
On the Dalhousie bus stand project, Agnihotri said departmental formalities are being completed. He also said a detailed project report for Banikhet’s sewerage scheme has been prepared and sent for approval.
