Cong names new dist presidents in Karnal
After a gap of around 11 years, the Congress on Tuesday evening announced its district presidents, appointing a Punjabi face to the Urban District President post and an SC leader to the Rural District President post.
Former AICC coordinator Parag Gaba, from a prominent Punjabi family in the city, has been named Urban District President, while Rajesh Vaid, from the Valmiki community, has been appointed Rural District President. Parag’s father, Des Raj Gaba, had earlier served as district president and worked for the party for nearly four decades.
Both newly appointed presidents expressed gratitude to the party leadership for placing their trust in them.
“I am thankful to the party leadership for giving me the responsibility of Urban District President. I promise to take all party leaders and workers along to strengthen the party on the ground,” said Parag Gaba.
When asked about factionalism within the party, he dismissed the suggestion, saying the Congress was united.
“I will try my best to meet the expectations of the party leadership and workers. I am thankful to the party leadership,” said Vaid.
Former MLAs Sumita Singh, Shamsher Singh Gogi and Bhimsen Mehta, former Youth Congress state president Divyanshu Budhiaraja, along with other party leaders, congratulated the two district presidents and expressed hope that their appointments would strengthen the party on the ground.
“The appointment of both district presidents will boost the morale of the party workers and further strengthen the party,” said former Assandh MLA Gogi.
Similarly, former Karnal MLA Sumita Singh said, “The party’s move of appointing district presidents across the state has charged the party workers and will further strengthen the party’s base in the state.”
