IT company Cognizant has made a big announcement. Cognizant, one of the world’s largest IT service firms, will be offering salary hikes to approximately 80 per cent of its eligible employees beginning November 1, reported MoneyControl. This follows the company’s statement during its second-quarter results, in which it indicated that most employees would receive merit-based hikes in the second half of the year.

Furthermore, this move will end months of uncertainty about salary increases. According to the report, the salary raises will apply to staff up to and including senior associates, and the raise will depend on each person’s performance rating and location.

Which employees are eligible for the salary hike at Cognizant?

In India, consistent top performers can expect increases in the high single digits. A spokesperson for the company said, “Top performers will receive the highest increases,” and added that most associates received the largest bonuses of the last three years earlier this year.

Typically, Cognizant kicks off its salary increment process on August 1. However, this year it was delayed due to global economic conditions, many of which relate to recent tariff actions by US President Donald Trump, with impending uncertainty in client tech budgets. Besides TCS, most of Cognizant’s peers have not yet announced hikes either.

Recently, US President Donald Trump announced 25 per cent reciprocal tariffs on India that came into effect from August 7, 2025. Trump also signed an executive order slapping an additional 25 per cent levy on India for New Delhi’s purchases of Russian oil, bringing the total duties to 50 per cent, among the highest imposed by the US on any country in the world. The additional 25 per cent duty will come into effect after 21 days or August 27.
