Coolie Makes Mass Entry; Rajnikath Swag Sets Screens on Fire, Yet Again

MASS. That’s what defines Thalaivar’s ‘Coolie’ outing. As the Rajnikanth-starrer hits theatres worldwide, director Lokesh Kanagaraj expects to have a blast. Fans have been thronging theatres right from the morning to watch the Rajni mass action flick. This also hints at paving the way for the largest opening the southern superstar in recent years.

As the film started its shows in theatres, celebratory moments seem to have hoped on to social media as well – and that too in major proportions. Initial posts on social media even described the flick as a mass tsunami unleashed n the silver screen.

What makes Rajnikanth still capable of unleashing such tsunamis on screen? The swag. The Thalaivar Swag as fans would love to call it, indeed. The man who has a new persona on screen and a totally different one off-screen, continues to sway the audiences in big waves.

And, this time around, it’s not just Rajnikanth that’s making it happen. Helming the film is Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has already stamped his name on the Tamil cinema universe with some unique and well made movies. When news came out that Rajnikanth is teaming up with Lokesh, that itself was enough to set the social spaces on fire. And, the excitement did not stop there.

The film maker went to announce the presence of none other than Aamir Khan, Upendra, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj and Malayalam film’s sensational actor-director Soubin Shahir in the Coolie firmament. Aamir Khan stepping in was indeed a superlative moment for the film as the event itself brought with it loads of love from the Hindi-speaking terrain.

And now, Coolie is out, playing in full houses across the nation. Rajnikanth’s Coolie avatar is garnering all the applause right from show one. So are the characters played by Aamir, Nagarjuna, Upendra Sathyaraj, Pooja Hegde Shruti Haasan, and Soubin. Adding to the applause is the ever dependable Anirudh’s background score, making celebration hit the peak wherever the film is being screened.

As Tamil Nadu and the south have launched themselves into celebration mode, it isn’t too different up north too. Even with War 2, starring heavyweights Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr, hitting theatres the same day, mass audiences for the Tamil flick is real on Bollywood terrain. Such has been the hype the Lokesh-Rajnikanth flick had generated from day one of the announcement of the movie.

With good reports flowing in from all over, Rajnikanth seems to be stamping his popularity even at an age where audiences would root for the younger stars. But in the case of the Tamil superstar, things are different. When he arrives on screen, the celebration is real. For, as one of his characters in the past had said, even if he comes late, stay assured that he would come in as the latest. And, Rajnikanth has proved that true yet again. He is here with the latest, super-modern aura around him. He probably wants to let his fans that he is here to stay for a bit longer.
