'Misadventures Will Have Painful Consequences': MEA Reminds Pakistan of 'Operation Sindoor' Amid War-Mongering Against India

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) advised Pakistan to temper its war-mongering rhetoric against India and warned "any misadventure by Pakistan will have painful consequences." The MEA spokesperson's comments come amidst Pakistan's war-mongering over the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty.

During the weekly media briefing on Thursday, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We have seen reports regarding a continuing pattern of reckless, war-mongering and hateful comments from Pakistani leadership against India. It is a well-known modus operandi of the Pakistani leadership to whip up anti-India rhetoric time and again to hide their own failures."  He added, "Pakistan would be well-advised to temper its rhetoric, as any misadventure will have painful consequences, as was demonstrated recently," ANI reported.

India recently called out Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir's nuclear threat and said, "Nuclear sabre-rattling is Pakistan's stock-in-trade." The Pakistani Army chief said, "We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us,” PTI reported.

Addressing the Pakistan diaspora in the United States recently, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said India would not be allowed to take "one drop of water" from Indus River and it would be considered an act of war. “If you threaten to hold our water, you cannot snatch even one drop of Pakistan,” Sharif had said.

India-US ties

The MEA spokesperson said India-US ties is anchored in shared interests, and robust "people-to-people ties". "This partnership has weathered several transitions and challenges, as we had said earlier, and we remain focused on the substantive agenda that the two countries have committed to, and we hope that the relationship will continue to move forward based on mutual respect and shared interests," the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson noted that a US defence policy team is expected to visit India in mid-August. "Both sides remain engaged to convene the 2+2 intersessional meeting at the working-level towards the end of this month."
