“It could have been a lot worse”: University of Iowa cheerleader Austin Beam back on court after serious neck and shoulder injury

University of Iowa cheerleader Austin Beam made a remarkable recovery after a frightening fall during a basketball practice in January 2025. Beam suffered a concussion and broken shoulder blade while performing back handsprings. Despite the severity of his injuries, Beam's determination and the support of his team and coaches enabled him to return to cheerleading during March Madness.
