Speaking after hoisting the national flag at the state-level Independence Day celebrations in Rohtak, the CM said India had emerged as the world’s fourth-largest economy and, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, now aspired to claim the top spot.
“Haryana will play a key role in realising the dream of Viksit Bharat. Every second car on Indian roads is made in Haryana, and the state manufactures 52 per cent of the country’s tractors. We also remain a leader in foodgrain contribution,” he said.
The Chief Minister announced a holiday in all government and private schools on August 18.
Saini said the BJP government in Haryana had ended discriminatory systems, rooted out corruption and adopted a new e-governance model linking schemes to the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP).
“More than 100 government services have been digitised, ensuring transparency. The state is known nationally for merit-based recruitment, online transfers, educated panchayats and the Antyodaya mission,” he said.
Highlighting employment initiatives, Saini claimed that during the current tenure, 30,000 jobs had been given on merit, while 1.80 lakh youth had been provided jobs in the past 10.5 years. Legal safeguards, including DA and annual increments had been extended to Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam employees, while overseas jobs had been secured for 5,000 youth.
The CM inspected the parade, took the salute, and paid homage to martyrs at the Shaheed Smarak. Families of freedom fighters were honoured.
“Post-Independence, Haryana’s soldiers displayed exemplary courage in the 1962, 1965 and 1971 wars, as well as the Kargil conflict. We must stand by the families and dependents of those who laid down their lives for the motherland,” he said.
The state, he added, had increased the pension for freedom fighters and their widows to Rs 40,000 per month, raised the ex gratia for martyrs’ families to Rs 1 crore, and provided government jobs to 410 dependents.
On welfare initiatives, the CM said the government had bifurcated SC reservation to benefit the most deprived, raised the OBC creamy layer income limit to Rs 8 lakh, granted OBC-B reservation in panchayats and urban local bodies, allotted land in 1,700 villages to the Prajapati community, enhanced the Vivah Shagun benefit up to Rs 71,000, and built houses under PMAY and CMAY.
“Social security pensions have been raised to Rs 3,000 per month with benefits extended to 10 new disability categories,” he noted.
The celebrations featured patriotic performances, though some cultural items had to be cancelled due to rain. The CM also felicitated officers, employees, artists and students.
