Shimla-Mandi road sinks near Tattapani; heavy rain to continue today
The Shimla-Mandi road near Tattapani has sunk as a result of heavy rainfall, disrupting the traffic movement on the road. As per the district administration, due to the continuous sinking of the road into the Sutlej river, only 4.2-m-wide road is left, and half of the road is unavailable for vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, heavy rain is likely to continue across the state as the State’s Meteorological Department has issued an orange weather warning for Kullu, Mandi, Chamba, Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Solan and Sirmaur districts for the next few hours, resulting in light to moderate rain in many areas along with few spells of heavy rain at one or two places of these districts.
Similarly, a yellow weather warning has been issued for Shimla, Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti for the next few hours. As a result, light to moderate rain at isolated areas is very likely to occur in these districts.
