Was money the motive behind Elvish Yadav firing attempt? YouTuber's net worth explained

Three masked men on Sunday allegedly fired more than a dozen rounds outside the residence of YouTuber and 'Bigg Boss: OTT' fame Elvish Yadav in Haryana's Gurugram, sparking speculations of whether money was a motive for the firing.
Yadav was not at his residence at the time of the incident (early hours of the morning), the police said.
According to a relative, Elvish had not received any threats before the attack and is presently outside Haryana. While the motive behind the firing remains unclear, speculations are abuzz that the incident could be related to money, owing to a 2023 attempt to extort money from him.
In 2023, the YouTuber’s fans were left shocked when he received an extortion threat amounting to ₹1 crore on WhatsApp. Later revealed to be an RTO agent after his arrest, the caller had even threatened to kill Yadav.
Net worth
The 27-year-old winner of season two of 'Laughter Chefs' has an estimated net worth of ₹50 crores, according to a Times of India report.
Most of his earnings come from his YouTube career and work as a social media influencer. Yadav has 16.5 million subscribers on his main channel, with his vlogging channel having another 8.45 million. His Instagram following currently stands at about 16.7 million.
He uses these platforms for YouTube ads and sponsorships, brand endorsements on Instagram and other platforms, reality show appearances, paid collaborations and promotions. He also has a fashion brand named 'Systumm Clothing'.
Apart from his YouTube career, Yadav's appearances in various reality TV shows such as 'Laughter Chefs Season 2', 'Roadies XX', 'Playground', and 'Indian Gaming Adda' have made him a household name in various parts of the country. In addition to giving him a wider reach in India, these appearances also boosted his finances: he reportedly charged approximately ₹2 lakh per episode of 'Laughter Chefs'.
Despite residing in a lavish mansion (at a posh area of Gurugram) reportedly valued at over ₹10 crores and owning several luxury cars like the Mercedes Benz G580 EQ, he has often downplayed estimations of his net worth.
However, the YouTuber faces another case concerning the alleged use of snake venom as a recreational drug at "rave" parties attended by both Indians and foreigners. This also connected him to an Enforcement Directorate (ED) money laundering case, concerning assets and bank accounts worth more than ₹50 lakhs.
