All eyes on Election Commission’s 3 pm press conference today

All eyes are on the press conference the Election Commission will hold at 3 pm on Sunday to counter the opposition offensive on special intensive revision of electoral rolls and alleged theft of votes.

The EC is under tremendous strain since Rahul presented what he described as mass theft of votes in Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat.

Gandhi alleged that this theft in a single assembly seat led to the BJP’s victory in the Lok Sabha segment in May 2024.

The EC’s press conference is timed with Rahul Gandhi’s vote Adhikar Yatra commencing from Bihar’s Sasaram.

The state is due for polls. The EC will make its stand on SIR and the opposition allegations formal.

The EC has said that anyone with concerns around voter data should submit to the local electoral officers the details under a sworn affidavit as per the provisions of the Representation of People’s Act. The complainant can face penalty and jail term if the allegations are proved untrue.
