Delhi News: Delhi on Flood Alert as Yamuna River Water Level Nears Danger Mark | ABP NEWS

Delhi is facing a serious flood threat as the Yamuna river’s water level approaches the danger mark. All 18 gates of the Hathnikund Barrage have been opened to release millions of cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water. Yesterday, 178,000 cusecs of water was discharged, causing a significant rise in the river level. The Delhi government has issued an advisory, particularly warning residents of low-lying areas prone to flooding. If heavy rains continue, the water level is expected to rise further, increasing the flood risk for Delhi. The current surge is mainly due to the opening of the Hathnikund Barrage gates to manage upstream water flow. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and have alerted citizens to stay prepared for possible flooding, especially in vulnerable parts of the city. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and follow official instructions to ensure safety.
