Rape case: Two more women come forward against rapper Vedan; incidents occurred between 2020 and 2021

As per latest reports, two more women have raised complaints of sexual assault against Vedan. The Malayali rapper, also known as Hirandas Murali, have been accused of traumatising the women in incidents that occurred between 2020 and 2021. The survivors have reportedly filed the complaints with Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan who is expected to forward them to the DGP.
The Kerala Police recently issued a lookout for Malayalam rapper Vedan in light of the possibility that he may try to flee the country. The notice was issued by the Thrikkakara police after efforts to find the musician within and outside Kerala went in vain.
The police recently booked Vendan for allegedly sexually assaulting a Malayali doctor under the pretext of marriage. A case was registered against the rapper by Thrikkakara police in Ernakulam on August 31, based on the complaint of the young doctor.
The Kerala High Court is also expected to hear the anticipatory bail plea sought by Vedan.
What are the allegations against Vedan?
Allegedly, the singer sexually assaulted the victim multiple times, who is also a fan of the singer, between August 2021 and March 2023. According to police, the doctor and the singer got acquainted through social media and they first met in a flat in Kozhikode, Kerala.
The victim alleged Vedan lured her into a relationship with false promises of marriage and sexually assaulted her. According to the police, Vedan had also borrowed money from the victim on several occasions. Police have registered a case under IPC Section 376(2), and a probe is underway.

The rapper landed in soup in April, after the narcotics wing of Kerala police nabbed him for possessing ganja. During subsequent raids, police also recovered a leopard tooth locket from his flat. A separate case was registered against him under the Wildlife Protection Act; the rapper has been granted bail in both cases.
Vedan has faced accusations of sexual harassment in the early stages of his career as well. The victims shared their experience through a Facebook post on the page 'Women against Sexual Harassment.'
