Law student leads educational initiative to uplift underprivileged children
Niranjan, a promising student pursuing law at Panjab University’s Regional Centre in Ludhiana, has dedicated herself to educating street kids since she was a 12-year-old. Her efforts have had a profound impact on the lives of these children and helped many of them break free of the cycle of poverty.
Niranjan has a packed routine. She attends college from 9 am to 4 pm, after which she revises her day’s lessons and prepares for judicial exams as well. At 7 pm she keeps everything aside to spare time for teaching underprivileged children.
“This school, Blessings of Satguru Ji, was started in 2018. It was my brother who launched it with just one student. I gradually took over while my brother assumed a supportive role. I am grateful to my family and friends for supporting my journey,” said Niranjan.
She has represented her school and college in various competitions. She is a debater and has also represented her college in elocution and a heritage quiz at the Panjab University Youth Festival. She has competed both at the department level as well as national-level moot courts. As an NSS volunteer, she is contributing immensely to community service. She gave a talk on the All India Radio in 2022. Her articles have been published in The Tribune, The Times of India and Hindustan Times as a part of School’s Wordsmiths.
Her mother Kanwaljeet Kaur and father Narinder Singh shared that they were blessed to have a child like Niranjan. “Apart from the one-to-one interaction with the kids, Niranjan has a YouTube channel, Blessings of Satguru Ji. Here she teaches children a variety of skills. For Niranjan, the kids are her lifeline. She celebrates every happiness, no matter little or big, every year with these kids,” the proud parents said.
“The biggest source of inspiration behind this social work is my guru, my family teachers and friends. My goal is to become a responsible citizen and serve society with integrity. I aspire to pursue a career in the judiciary, where I can uphold justice, ensure fairness and make meaningful contribution to the legal system,” said Niranjan.
