This Indian district hits JACKPOT, set to become gold hub, it is located in…, name is…
Banswara district in southern Rajasthan is now set to become a new hub for gold. After Jagpura and Bhukia in Ghantol, preparations are now underway to start gold mining in Kankaria as well as early surveys show signs of gold ore spread over nearly 3 square kilometers in the area. The mining department had floated tenders for exploration, but these were canceled due to technical reasons. Officials believe that fresh tenders will soon be issued, paving the way for mining to begin here too. Mining engineer Gaurav Meena said that final decisions on mining will be taken at the department headquarters.
What is Exploration?
Before mining begins, a process called exploration is carried out to understand the exact condition of the mineral deposit. This involves geological surveys, testing samples of soil, water, and rocks, and using satellite and aerial images to study the land. If needed, drilling is done to take core samples from deep underground, which are then tested in laboratories. These methods help in accurately estimating the amount, quality, and depth of the mineral.
Waiting for mining license
Gold deposits in Banswara district were first discovered during a survey in 1990-91. Looking at the estimated reserves spread over nearly 10 sq km in Jagpura–Bhukia, the government has started the process of granting mining licenses. Tests showed that one ton of ore from the site contained about 1.945 grams of gold. Experts believe the region may hold nearly 120 tons of gold, which could generate revenue worth thousands of crores. The mining company selected through tender has already deposited Rs. 170 crore with the government for the license and is now waiting for final approval.
A big boost for Rajasthan and Tribal areas
The gold mining project is being viewed as a big opportunity for the tribal region of Banswara. The mines will bring more money to the government and create new jobs for local young people. With mining work starting, many other companies and small industries are also likely to come to the area, which will help the local economy grow. Experts believe that Rajasthan could soon become one of India’s top gold-producing states, after Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Once mining begins, many new industries are also expected to be set up in the region.
