Heavy rains battered Mumbai on Tuesday, leading to water-logging in several low-lying areas and disrupting road, rail and flight traffic. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'red alert', forecasting extremely heavy rainfall in the city and adjoining districts in the next few hours.
The incessant showers have thrown normal life out of gear in several areas including Dadar, Matunga, Sion, Andheri and Parel with roads and streets submerged in water. Heavy flooding was also witnessed in areas like Byculla, Kalachowki, Thane, Ghatkopar, Vidyavihar, Vikhroli, and Bhandup.
