War 2 worldwide box office collection day 5: Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s spy thriller crosses Rs 300 crore despite…

Released on 14 August, Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 had a tough start with Rajinikanth’s Coolie as its direct competitor. Yet, within five days, the spy thriller surged past Rs 300.50 crore worldwide.

The film grossed Rs 240 crore in India and Rs 60.50 crore overseas, showing that Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR’s face-off was strong enough to draw crowds globally.

Did it beat other big films?

Yes. Within just four days, War 2 overtook the lifetime earnings of:

  • Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par (Rs 267.34 crore)
  • Mohanlal’s L2 Empuraan (Rs 265.5 crore)
  • Ajay Devgn’s Raid 2 (Rs 237 crore)

By Monday, the film’s India net stood at Rs 183.25 crore, with a gross of Rs 218.50 crore. Adding the overseas Rs 63 crore, the film hit Rs 281.50 crore worldwide before officially crossing the Rs 300 crore mark.

This also means it left behind Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5, which closed at Rs 288.58 crore.

Who are its main competitors now?

War 2 is far from the top spot. The biggest challenge ahead remains:

  • Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava – Rs 807.91 crore
  • Saiyaara – Rs 547 crore
  • Rajinikanth’s Coolie – already Rs 404 crore and still rising

So while War 2 is climbing steadily, it has stiff competition in 2025’s blockbuster race.

About War 2

The film picks up after the events of War (2019). Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), once the system’s sharpest agent, is now branded a rogue. Hot on his trail are Vikram (Jr NTR) and Kavya (Kiara Advani), daughter of Luthra (Ashutosh Rana).

The film also features Anil Kapoor in a key role and a surprise Bobby Deol cameo in the mid-credits scene, linking it deeper into the YRF spy universe.

Despite a box office clash and a dip on Saturday, War 2 has proven resilient. Crossing Rs 300 crore in under a week, the film has solidified itself as one of 2025’s big openers, but whether it can reach the heights of Chhaava or Saiyaara is a question only time will answer.
