Govt temporarily removes cotton import duty

To support the textile industry, the Centre has announced removal of 11 per cent import duty on raw cotton, effective immediately, till September 30.

This policy shift is expected to ease the financial burden on mills and manufacturers, who have been grappling with high domestic cotton prices and limited availability. The decision was also taken to protect the MSMEs.
