2 drug peddlers arrested with 2-kg heroin
The Gharinda police arrested two drug peddlers with 2 kg heroin here on Monday. Those arrested were identified as Karamjit Singh, alias Karma, of Rajatal border village here and Mahan Singh, alias Mannu, of Burj village in Tarn Taran.
Besides, the police also impounded their bike and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against them.
SSP, Amritsar (Rural), Maninder Singh said the police got a tip-off that Karamjit Singh and Mahan Singh have close links with Pakistan-based drug peddlers and they were indulging in cross-border drug trafficking via drones and later supply consignments in different parts of Punjab.
He said the accused were intercepted near the Atalgarh border village defense drain when they were travelling on a bike (PB02-CM-7804).
During search, the police seized the contraband weighing around 2 kg from them. The SSP said their backward and forward links were being ascertained to smash the entire drug cartel. More arrests are likely to be made during further investigations.
