NSUI protests new NCERT module at Delhi University

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) staged a protest at the Arts Faculty of Delhi University on Monday, alleging a newly introduced NCERT module has been influenced by the RSS and BJP to distort India’s history and promote communal narratives among students.

The demonstration drew hundreds of students who raised slogans and held placards in what they described as a defence of the true legacy of India’s freedom struggle. NSUI leaders said the protest was a reflection of growing youth anger over what they claim is the misrepresentation of historical facts in educational content.

Addressing the gathering, NSUI national president Varun Choudhary condemned the contents of the module. “The history of India will not be written with lies and hatred. When the nation was fighting for freedom, these people were standing with the British. The same traitors of that time are today blaming Gandhi, Nehru and Sardar Patel with falsehoods,” he said. “We will not allow the innocent children of this country to be victims of the RSS and BJP’s distorted history.”

NSUI announced the agitation would not remain confined to Delhi University. The student body said it plans to take the protest to universities and states across the country, warning that the movement would intensify if the module is not withdrawn.

Reiterating its position, NSUI declared it would not relent until what it termed the “hateful and misleading” NCERT module is scrapped and the “truth and dignity of India’s freedom struggle” are restored in the national education system.
